The short version
Your practice stays on your device. The One Thing is local-first: your goals, songs, levels, scores and study history live in your browser's storage, not on our servers. We count visits anonymously, we keep the emails you choose to give us, and the optional features that need a server say so before you use them. We use no advertising, no cookies for tracking, and we never sell data.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Fatamorgana Srl, Via Giosuè Carducci 185/A, 97100 Ragusa, Italy — VAT no. IT 01806180889. Contact: info@fatamorganasrl.com.
What we process, and why
- Anonymous usage statistics. We use Plausible Analytics, a cookie-free, EU-based service: page visits and a handful of anonymous events (session started, session half-done, session completed, first-week session, front-door answer, trial started, trial expired, paywall viewed, price clicked, testimonial request shown, testimonial sent). No cookies, no personal identifiers, no cross-site tracking, no profiles. What travels with them is never about you or your practice: how many days the app has been in use on that device (capped at 30), whether the placement check was taken, which of the first week's seven sessions is starting, the answer to «Have you played the guitar before?» (never or yes), the price and plan shown or clicked on the paywall, and which step of the testimonial request was reached.
- Emails you give us. If you leave your email on a form (for example to be notified at launch), it is stored by Netlify Forms and used only to contact you about the product. Legal basis: your consent; you can withdraw it by writing to us.
- Optional account and sync. If you sign in (email one-time password), your email address and the practice data you choose to synchronise are stored by our sync provider so your devices can share them. Without an account, nothing is synchronised. Legal basis: performance of the service you requested.
- AI-assisted answers. When you use the "Ask" study feature, the text of your question is sent to our serverless function and on to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the answer. Questions are not used to build a profile of you.
- The microphone, on the device only. On the steps where you answer by playing, the app listens through your microphone and works out which note you played. That happens entirely inside your browser, note by note, while you play, and no audio ever leaves your device. Nothing is recorded unless you choose to record a take: then the recording is kept in your browser's storage on this device only, never uploaded and never synchronised, and you can listen to it, export it as an audio file or delete it at any time. Your browser asks for your permission before the microphone is opened, and you can withdraw it in your browser settings at any time.
- YouTube, only if you bring it. If you add a song of your own from YouTube to your Repertoire, the YouTube player is loaded from YouTube when you play that song, and YouTube receives your IP address and applies its own cookies and privacy policy. Nothing is requested from YouTube unless and until you play such a song.
- Problem reports. The "report a problem" button composes an email in your own mail app; you can read everything it contains before sending, and nothing leaves the device until you press send.
- Testimonials you choose to give. Once, at a milestone, the app may ask for a few words about your experience. Sending is voluntary; your words, and — only if you tick the consent box — your first name, country and years playing, are stored by Netlify Forms and may be shown on our site. Never a surname, never without the ticked box. You can withdraw consent at any time by writing to info@fatamorganasrl.com, and the testimonial comes off the site.
What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising trackers.
- No sale or rental of personal data.
- No tracking cookies — which is why the site shows no cookie banner.
Retention
Practice data stays on your device for as long as your browser keeps it, and you can export or delete it at any time from the app. Recorded takes stay on your device until you delete them. Emails collected on forms are kept until launch communications end or you ask us to remove yours. Synchronised data is kept while your account exists.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and you can object to processing or withdraw consent, by writing to info@fatamorganasrl.com. You can also lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali).
